reiki and course fees

It is very easy to always choose the cheapest in life, when the choices all look the same from the outside. But likewise we must be careful not to simply pick the most expensive without examining what extra benefits this high price might bring to us.

reiki and course fees

Money is a fact of modern life. We cannot live within this society without it. But that does not mean that we let money rule our lives. It is merely a tool that enables us to live in this world. Money too is an issue in Reiki. Money, like Reiki, is an energy and is a part of the cycle of energy exchange within society.

So what is the right fee to pay for Reiki a course? Fees vary from nothing up to £8,000 or $10,000 for the Master degree.

We live in a society that more and more recognises materialism, rather than spiritualism, as the pinnacle of success. Fame is sought after, even though transient; relationships have become disposable and children a commodity. Commitment is lacking in many areas of our lives. It was for this reason that the high fee structure was first introduced. Hawayo Takata felt that in the West the spirit did not rule. Therefore the only method by which she could ensure that Reiki was respected, valued and used was to set a high price on its teaching. That same level of commitment is still required today. How you choose to show that commitment is up to you. The fee that you choose to pay should reflect your own commitment to Reiki and your own ethical views. Money should not be your deciding factor when choosing a Master. If you feel drawn to study with a particular Master then the money will come to you. There is no right or wrong fee.

The fee may also be a reflection of the commitment of the Master to the student. It may mirror the dedication of the Master to Reiki and the time, care and experience of the Master. The Reiki comes for free; we pay for the expertise, time, support, dedication and professionalism of the Master. This relationship is lifelong and sacred. The Master has a duty of care to their students for life. Is this attitude perhaps reflected in the price of the course? Remember that we do often get what we pay for.

It is very easy to always choose the cheapest in life, when the choices all look the same from the outside. But likewise we must be careful not to simply pick the most expensive without examining what extra benefits this high price might bring to us. It is also possible to use the subject of fees to deal with our own issues regarding money. Perhaps we feel that we are not worthy of success and money and this will be reflected in our attitude to Reiki course fees.

We can also use this opportunity to see how we judge others. We must learn never to dismiss, those whose monetary values do not match our own, as either greedy or cheap. Excellent teachers can be found in both camps.

For some people high prices are necessary in order to bring lifelong commitment out.

What we must all realise is that Reiki shows us the true nature of ourselves and out true relationship with our inner selves. Those are relationships in which it is well worth investing heavily with our time and money.

We are more than happy to save our pennies, or take out loans, to pay for a facelift or new wardrobe that will make us feel younger pr happier for a short time. Or we feel that a new sports car can fill the hole in our lives. Yet the greatest journey we can take is in our emotional, mental and spiritual worlds. When we invest in that journey the rewards last forever and are more satisfying than any material reward. The pursuit of the material is not detrimental, but it should not be our driving force. Likewise the attitude and motivation of the initiating Master is the most important aspect and not the fee that they set.

Reiki initiations are a spiritual investment. We must learn to value ourselves, our abilities and then we will naturally find our values to money.

Rather than fight the issue of money we should…..as the Reiki Principles teach us… be grateful for all experiences and welcome the teaching and opportunity for growth that it provides. After all who are we to judge the ethics of another? We must accept that all levels of fee have a place within Reiki. And with that acceptance comes growth.
